Subaru has finally begun to reveal more about its new Global Platform. This new platform will form the foundation for all future new Subaru models. With this new Subaru Global Platform, we can expect to see more of a focus on safety, refinement, and the adaptability to have alternate powertrains.
Essentially, the Subaru Global Platform (SGP) will serve as the skeleton for each next generation Subaru vehicle. So how does this affect the future of your brand new 2016 Subaru Outback or 2016 Subaru WRX? Well, that’s sort of the beauty of the SGP. The design is pretty universal and can be used for crossovers, hatchbacks, and sedans alike.
The first vehicle that will ride on the new Global Platform will be the new 2017 Subaru Impreza. The new chassis will allow the new Subaru Impreza and all future Subaru vehicles to have increased stability and comfort. Additionally, noise and vibration have been mitigated to offer you an even better ride than before. These features are in part accomplished by lowering the center of gravity five-millimeters and increasing rigidity 70 to 100 percent which, combined with upgraded suspensions will cut down on the heavy body roll and vibrations.
While the new SGP is great for drivers, the new 2017 Subaru Impreza is expected to be a testament to that. The new Impreza concept photos show the vehicle sporting a whole new makeover with edgier lines and a bold look. The new Subaru Global Platform is also great for the company. The SGP will save the automaker money on manufacturing costs. And that extra money can be put towards developing better safety and features, as well as more efficiently utilize development and facilities personnel.
