With the creative writing prompts personal narrative an impressive and popular automobile out on the roads there’s beginning to be a fair bit of speculation about what’s in store for the 2016 Subaru Impreza. The current Impreza, a compact sedan coming in your choice of four- or five-doors includes a solid 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer engine that gets 148 horsepower.
And while there isn’t much to go on regarding specs for a new engine or anything related to powertrains and performance, the next iteration of the Impreza should sport a similar engine with some updated specs. What has been going around the rumor mill, however is what the 2016 Subaru Impreza might look like.
While these are just rumors, one is suspected to come from an insider who suggests that a new Subaru design might not be entirely new and instead drawn from an existing concept that Subaru revealed a couple of years ago for a different car, the Subaru WRX.
The original concept that accompanied the WRX included a five-door component, and since the 2015 Subaru WRX doesn’t have five doors, it looks like the template could be ported over to the next Impreza. This could also indicate that Subaru automakers are already putting plans in motion to comply with their new business plan with the introduction of a new vehicle platform and more efficient fuel-injected engines.
Starting in 2016, Subaru will introduce its new modularized platform they’re calling the Subaru Global Platform. This new platform will support every Subaru vehicle from the Impreza to the Outback. With this new platform there has been news that the next-generation Impreza will have more of a focus on interior space, maneuverability, and safety.
