That sentiment is the focus of a new ad campaign by Subaru automakers. The Barkleys are back in a new ad that lets us know that Subaru models are “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.”

The four ads that will air are fun and light, showcasing the family of dogs going through a car wash or learning to parallel park. What separates these ads from your typical car ad is that they mostly feature the dogs, not the cars. There’s no voiceover telling you how great the 2018 Subaru Impreza is, even though it is great. And that speaks to the automaker’s awareness of its fans and drivers.

These ads show us that Subaru vehicles are family- and pet-friendly without outrightly saying it. Instead, they pay homage to and celebrate the kind of lifestyle many Subaru drivers have while giving prospective buyers looking for a new Subaru for sale something to consider.

“With more than half of Subaru drivers having pets, we believe it is important to celebrate the love of pets shared by our owners,” said senior vice president of marketing at Subaru of America, Alan Bethke according to thedrive.com.
