In case you were too busy surfing this summer, or ignoring Florida baseball, or maybe, just maybe, ditching Ft. Myers for Miami to see if any of the Jersey Shore folks were still hitting the clubs and leaving a Ft. Myers Legacy, you may have missed Subaru’s pricing announcement for the 2011 Impreza WRX and STI. It happens.
But we don’t have a situation here because the 2011 WRX will be arriving at dealerships in September, starting out at just $25,495 for both the 4-door and 5-door models. Even though the dollar has likely devalued since the 2010 WRX was introduced, this $25,495 price tag is only a minor $500 increase from the 2010 4-door and it’s the same price as the 5-door. This and all 2011 WRX model owners receive upgraded speakers and steering wheel control switches for audio and Bluetooth functions. If it were up to Subaru, maybe candy bars would still be only a nickel and all deep fried.
As for the 2011, WRX STI, Subaru’s performance leader with a 385 horsepower 2.5 liter turbocharged and intercooled Subaru Boxer engine, it comes in at $33,995. In Ft. Myers, Legacy models are going to come in at just under $20,000, so it’s clear the Impreza WRX STI owner is a consumer who is willing to spend on quality. Subaru has identified this quality by making all WRX STI models outfitted for a GPS Touch-Screen Navigation with a 7” LCD touch-screen for an additional $1,800…for another comparison, in Ft. Myers, used Forester models from the early 00s are going for around $2,000. But before Ft. Myers used Forester drivers think too hard about this added luxury that goes for about the same price as their own beloved vehicles, always remember if you know where the sun is then you can never get lost (which should be no problem down in Florida).
With the Forester and the Outback capturing the Golden Calipers trophy as 2009 and 2010 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the year, respectively, Subaru seems to be confident in its products and it shows in offering the Impreza WRX and STI starting at very reasonable prices.
