Last month we gave you an update on the fifth-annual Subaru of America “Share the Love” event. The organization asked Facebook fans to vote on two “People’s Choice” charities to round out the five total charities that would receive a collective $5 million in donations from Subaru. O’Brien Subaru is proud to announce that fans chose Alzheimer’s Association and the USO as the final two recipients of the charity dollars.

In addition to the Facebook vote, “Share the Love” ensures that Subaru will donate $250 to the owners’ choice of five charities for each new Subaru leased or sold from Nov. 21 of this year through Jan. 2 of next year. That means that whether you voted on Facebook or have donated to one of the five charities on your own, you still have plenty of opportunities to stay involved.

The USO and the Alzheimer’s Association will join The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Meals on Wheels Association of America and Make-A-Wish in the fifth year of the “Share the Love” event. Over the last four years, Subaru has donated close to $20 million to a number of charitable organizations through the sales event.

This was also the second year that Subaru fans have been given a chance to participate via a Facebook vote. The opportunity was successful as nearly 200,000 voters participated in the three weeks of available voting. Other contenders in this year’s voting included Special Olympics, Leave No Trace, American Forests and First Book.
