In addition to their awesome outdoorsy appeal, Subaru vehicles have always been known for their incredible safety features. And now the most sporty of Subaru vehicles, the has been awarded the very high honor of being elected for an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+. The IIHS has, in fact, awarded six new Subaru vehicles the illustrious Top Safety Pick+. The other five Subaru vehicles include the Subaru Legacy, Outback, Forester, Impreza, and the Subaru XV Crosstrek.

“Safety is a hallmark of the Subaru brand,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America. “And every year we continue to innovate and improve the safety of all our vehicles. This award is a testament to our commitment of providing customers with the highest level of safety standards.”

The devotion to safety is truly a cornerstone of the Subaru dynasty, and the fact that so many Subaru vehicles hit the mark year after year truly shows the automaker’s dedication to precision and safety. Safety ratings are assigned from highest (“good”) downward, to acceptable, marginal, and poor. These ratings are based on five tests that the vehicle undergoes: moderate overlap front, small overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. All of these factors contribute to how the IIHS measures a vehicle’s crashworthiness.
