Out of all of our new Subaru vehicles for sale, four-wheel-drive vehicles are uniquely designed to handle even the most difficult road conditions. Here’s everything you need to know about Subaru four-wheel-drive vehicles.
4WD vs. AWD
What exactly is four-wheel drive? Many drivers confuse 4WD with all-wheel drive (AWD), but the two are actually quite different.
With AWD, power is allocated to specific wheels at specific times, like in the case of bad weather conditions. On the other hand, 4WD sends power to all four wheels at the same time.
This system can perform exceptionally well in bad driving conditions, but it’s also great at tackling difficult terrains such as gravel and rock. Usually, four-wheel drive is only offered in certain vehicles designed for off-road performance, like SUVs and trucks.
Subaru Vehicles with 4WD
Technically, Subaru vehicles don’t have a traditional four-wheel-drive system. Instead, almost all Subarus are equipped with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
This special system distributes weight and power evenly for even better control and traction. Some of our favorite models with this drivetrain include the ever-popular Subaru Outback. Also available in the Subaru Impreza, drivers can always expect high-performance on the road.
If you want a vehicle with excellent handling, you can’t go wrong with a Subaru SUV.
